An exclusive enclave within the auspices of DC Ranch, the highly-rated Silverleaf Country Club is the subject of this blog. Silverleaf is nestled just west of the formidable McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Ariz., a city that averages a toasty 330 sunny days each year. With all that sun, it’s clear why residents of Silverleaf and their visitors love the outdoors. Whether you’re new to the club, considering membership, or just prospecting, there are so many reasons to love life outdoors at the Club.

Because of the ideal natural environment surrounding Silverleaf Country Club, it makes sense that Silverleaf real estate would be in some demand. The market never takes a day off, and there’s no winter or offseason for you to set goals or plan day trips. The tennis, fitness, swimming, dining, and social events like Silverleaf Country Club weddings never stop. Use this guide as a cheat sheet for connecting with the budding natural world around you. The Arizona rockscapes and deserts are secret treasures of the US, so you don’t want to miss out on this abundance of beauty.

Golf

While there are many nodes of connection with your inner nature-lover around Silverleaf, the signature pastime at this country club is golf. Silverleaf Club features an 18-hole championship golf course whose blueprint was designed by course-creator legend Tom Weiskopf. The fairways wind across the valley, a green turf oasis in the middle of the desert. The course seems tame next to the wild desert, but at well over 7,000 yards, the physical and mental challenge renews each round.

Beware of sand traps and the dry heat; otherwise, this par-72 course will test your skills in a way that allows you to drink in the panoramic views and dramatic scenery.

However, the Silverleaf Club course isn’t your only option. If you're an avid golfer and want to change things up, you can also head to the Grayhawk or McDowell Mountain courses, each of which rests within a few minutes of your Silverleaf real estate. Together these two links offer more than fifty new holes to enjoy.

ATVs and Jeep tours

With all the fantastic hills and the lunar terrain of the Arizona deserts, the best way to roll through the area is on an ATV. The all-terrain aspect of these vehicles makes them perfect for exploring the unpredictable landscapes around Silverleaf. If you stay in the general vicinity, it should be easy to escape for shade if the sun and sand get too hot.

If you don’t already own an ATV, the nearest ATV tour to Silverleaf is Desert Monsters Tours. Here, you can rent ATVs for self-led adventures across the nearby deserts. And if you and your family would rather be passengers on such a journey, you can also purchase professionally-run Jeep Tours that explore the desert, local wildlife, and flora.

McDowell Sonoran Desert Preserve

Arizona is a desert state riven with mountains and valleys whose formation dates back to the Ice Ages. The landscape here is a masterpiece, and some of the most iconic and stunning outdoor experiences you can have are in the McDowell Sonoran Desert Preserve. The Preserve mostly surrounds Silverleaf: an incredible landscape filled with trails and views that cut across the unique, cactus-filled Sonoran Desert. While here, you can go on walking hikes, bike, try archery hunting, and participate in many other activities. Two distinct trail maps go North and South, and the preserve is open every day for free, from sunrise to sunset.

However, because of this biome's delicate nature, there are many rules. No electric bikes are allowed, and neither are firearms or fires. Of course, everyone should beware of local rattlesnakes. Meanwhile, dogs are allowed, but there are strict rules in place to protect their health. After all, it can get sweltering in the desert, and dogs can’t regulate their body heat like humans, so they require extra care and concern in high temperatures. If it's over 90 degrees, the preserve says you shouldn't bring your beloved canines. Considering the breathtaking views, all the careful rules are worth it.

The beauty of the desert around Silverleaf is inspiring. If you are moved to do photoshoots or even hold a Silverleaf Country Club wedding, simply submit a permit, and you might be able to have your dream event here. Whether you come for the cacti or the sunsets, any nature-lover can find something to love about the gorgeous desert topography.

Member events

As a member of the Silverleaf Club, you immediately gain full access to the club’s exclusive events. The calendar stays full with guided activities like painting, yoga, meditation, and more. While sometimes these events are held indoors, on nice days, you can make art, exercise, and stay cool in the beautiful outdoors near your home. You could start the day with coffee, spend the morning at a yoga class or the gym, and wind down in the afternoon painting your favorite cactus while sipping cool beverages and chatting with your neighbors. Sounds ideal, yes?

Hot air balloon rides

Once you notice how flat much of the land is around Silverleaf and Scottsdale, you might realize that the terrain is ideal for a unique style of adventure: hot air balloon rides. The local Rainbow Riders can take you to new heights. As far as cost goes, it’s roughly $250 per adult; each outing takes one hour of flight time and three-plus hours total. Feel free to enjoy a high-flying afternoon seeing Silverleaf as you’ve never seen it before.

McDowell Mountain Park

For a break from the desert heat, you can cool off by heading into the mountains. While hot air rises, air thins as elevation increases, so the higher you get on the mountains and into the atmosphere, the cooler it will be. If you need a different adventure, head to McDowell Mountain Park. Among the mountains are multiple trails and new foliage to appreciate. While there, you can go hiking, like most parks, and you can also go biking, camping, horseback riding, and stargazing.

Suppose you want to get educated on your outdoor adventures. In that case, McDowell Mountain Park also holds regular park events where park rangers teach attendees about the local flora, fauna, history, and ecology. This national land is open year-round, so get your park pass and don’t miss out on enjoying its unique wonders.

As you return to the Club from a day or weekend trip in nature, you’ll see your community perched on a knoll slightly above the surrounding valley. Depending on where your home or estate is, you might even be able to see it higher up towards the mountains. Maybe you’re headed for the spa, or maybe it’s time to refuel at the clubhouse. Whatever the case, Silverleaf and its rugged luxury wait upon you.
